Language Arts:
We
continued to practice our procedural writing and adding descriptive words to
our daily writing. We read Enemy Pie by Derek Munson. We answered many
comprehension questions about the book and discussed “What is a friend and an
enemy?” We focused on the story elements of characters, setting, problem and
solution, and retelling the many events of the story. We decided that we would
like to have just friends, so we created a friendship pie and wrote some ideas
of how to be a good friend. Our word family this week was “et”. It was great to
wear our pink shirts in honour of being a friend and anti-bullying!
Math:
We
used our knowledge of doubles facts to help solve subtraction equations. We
worked on solving open-ended subtraction word problems. We continued to do Math
Centers with Mrs. Hull that focus on subtraction, doubles facts, cube
conversations, sorting and patterning. We also continued with some 100th Day
activities of making a 100, name patterned quilt, identifying patterns on the
100 chart, writing about what we would do if we had $100 and what we would look
like if we were 100 years old.
Science:
We
mixed some primary colours this week to get new secondary colours. As all
scientists log their observations and findings, we used our knowledge of
procedural writing to do the write up of our Science Experiment of mixing blue
and yellow together.
