December 14th-18th

This past week has been filled with fun Christmas activities. Please check your child’s backpack for these activities, plus any work that was completed and does not need to stay at school.

I wish you all a great holiday break. Enjoy every moment that you get to spend with family. Please stay healthy and safe during this fun time. I will see you online on January 5th for our online learning. You should all have your login information from earlier in the year. It was sent late October or early November. Please do not use the one from the ice cream social, as the password has changed. Our class nickname is tudjangradeone. If you cannot locate this please let me know before January, as I will need to send two separate emails with the email address and password.

Thanks for your support over the past four months. You have been great with sending your child to school ready for learning each day and keeping them home when sick or showing symptoms. This has helped keep everyone safe and healthy and is much appreciated.

The grade one teachers did some Christmas JibJabs that you can check out with your family:

December 7th-11th

In Language Arts, we have been reading lots of stories, and working on identifying and sequencing parts of a story by using beginning, middle and end. We read the story, The Biggest, Best Snowman and students participated in a cooperative group activity, where each student had an assigned job. One person’s job was to write the words, another was to draw a picture to illustrate the words, and the third student was time-keeper and presenter. The presenter shared the group’s ideas to the rest of the class. Students had to share ideas and decide what happened in each section of the story. They did a super job of identifying parts of the story and working well together.

Students have also been asked to independently retell a story that they have read. They need to be able to tell as many details as possible and answer questions about the characters, events, problems or solutions in the story.

Students were excited to do the sound test this week. We have now completed the Five Senses unit in Science.
