Family Artifact/Upcoming Events

Dear Parents and Students,

As part of our Social Studies Program, we are learning about the past. Part of our study includes our family history. Please have a discussion with your child about an important family artifact that helps represent your cultural background. Examples include, jewelry, recipes, decorations, clothing, flags, etc. If you are able to send the artifact in with your child that is great. Otherwise, your child can draw or take a picture of the artifact and bring it into school by June 1st. Your child will be expected to answer the following questions about the artifact and will be presenting their item and information to the class. Here are some questions that students will be expected to answer about their family artifact.

What is the artifact?
Who or where is it from?
What special significance does it hold for your family?

Thank you for your cooperation and support,

Mrs. Tudjan

  • Bring a picture of your family artifact to share with the class

May 17th-20th

You have had another busy week with “At Home Learning”. Be sure to thank your mom, dad and Mrs. McDonald for all their support and hard work over the past two weeks. We are all glad that we will be back to classes on Tuesday, May 25th.

There is no school on Friday, May 21st or Monday, May 24th. Be sure to email me your work. If you have not emailed it by Monday, please make sure that you bring it to school on Tuesday, May 25th. We will not be borrowing library books for the remainder of the school year, so if you did not return your book already, please do so on Tuesday as well.

We are planning some special pioneer days for June. Please check the homework document and send in a long paper tube, like you get with wrapping paper, prior to that day. You can start bringing it in right away. If you happen to have more than one, please bring it as well so that we can share with a classmate who does not have one.

Tuesday: Bring your completed homework and at home learning, if not emailed.

Make sure that you bring your personal TIMELINE

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful, supportive moms of students in Room 11. I hope that you enjoyed your special gift from your child. I had so much fun making it with them.

I have been away this week and will be again next week. I have heard from Ms. McDonald that you guys had a great week and that you worked super hard on all the tasks that I left. I am super proud of you all! I have missed you guys so much and can’t wait to see you again soon. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend on-line learning this week. You will still get to send me your work on Friday. I look forward to seeing all your awesome projects!

I will post the online learning for the week of May 10th-14th here and in addition to the homework page. The weekly homework will be posted as usual on the homework page. Adults- please read these important notes to keep learning on track for the next two weeks:

1) Bean seeds should be watered daily, or whenever the soil on top looks dry. They should start to sprout within the next week and visible above the soil shortly after that. We will be discussing them online, and completing a short journal about them every couple days. Thank you for accepting these into your home for their science learning.

2) Students have learned my expectations for Google Meets, but for your reference:
         a. your child should be at a desk, table, or other hard surface, prepared with a sharpened pencil and their notebooks
         b. they should be dressed for the day (not in pyjamas) unless otherwise specified...
         c. no digital backgrounds- they are distracting for them and others
         d. students should remain muted unless invited to share (otherwise background noise may interfere with audio quality)
         e. the first 5 minutes of every Google Meet is a socializing period, for the class to catch up with one another and talk freely

3) Homework can be completed at any point during the week, but at-home assignments should only be completed after they have been assigned during a Google Meet

4) All work can be sent via e-mail at the end of the week. Please send all the work in one e-mail to simplify tracking of work on my end.

5) This can be a stressful time for you, your child(ren), and others around you. Please take the time to just play together and enjoy the extra time together.
