In Language Arts, we have been reading lots of stories, and working on identifying and sequencing parts of a story by using beginning, middle and end. We read the story, The Biggest, Best Snowman and students participated in a cooperative group activity, where each student had an assigned job. One person’s job was to write the words, another was to draw a picture to illustrate the words, and the third student was time-keeper and presenter. The presenter shared the group’s ideas to the rest of the class. Students had to share ideas and decide what happened in each section of the story. They did a super job of identifying parts of the story and working well together.
Students
have also been asked to independently retell a story that they have read. They
need to be able to tell as many details as possible and answer questions about
the characters, events, problems or solutions in the story.
Students
were excited to do the sound test this week. We have now completed the Five
Senses unit in Science.

There is no homework this week. We start homework again during the second week of January.
