In Language Arts, we continued to create procedural writing for the topics of How to Make a Pizza and How to Build a Snowman. We finished off the week with a Writing Assessment on “My Bad Day”. We read the story, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst. We discussed what kinds of things would make us have a bad day and then wrote a “story” about our bad days. Students were expected to have at least four events and use some form of transition words in their writing. I will share these with you during our interview time on Thursday and Friday.
In Math, we finished
up with the subtraction strategies of “think addition” and “minus 10”. Students
are doing a good job of demonstrating their understanding of subtraction by
solving open-ended word problems in several ways.
