May 6th

We have continued learning about 3D shapes this week. We have created 3D shapes and then counted to see how many edges, vertices (corners), faces and curved surfaces each shape has. Students should have brought home some shapes this week. They should be able to explain and count each attribute.

Thanks to all the parents who had their child do a family interview and who sent it in with homework on Friday. If your child did not do so, please send this in next week, as students will have the opportunity to share the changes that have occurred in our families over time, in the upcoming week. If you did it in the homework book, I took a photo so that your child can share it.

We planted some bean seeds this week and are very excitedly waiting to see what takes place in a plant life cycle. We also discussed living and non-living things.

A huge thanks to the parents who came out and helped with our Clay for Kids Projects. We are still in need of parent volunteers for May 24th (Ralph Klein ParK) and June 14th (Heritage Park). Please let me know if you have a security clearance and are able to help out.

Happy Mother’s Day to all room 11 moms! I hope you have some relaxing time and enjoy your special project.
